रिसाव को रोकने के लिए नहरों का नवीनीकरण किया गया है और नहरों में साफ पानी सुनिश्चित करने के लिए 60 एरेटर और 28 निस्पंदन टैंक जोड़े गए हैं।

माननीय प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने अखंड काले ग्रेनाइट से बनी नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस की 28 फीट ऊंची प्रतिमा का अनावरण किया। कर्तव्य पथ के उद्घाटन से पहले, माननीय प्रधान मंत्री ने इसके निर्माण में शामिल श्रमजीवियों के साथ बातचीत की, और राष्ट्र के लिए उनके प्रयासों और योगदान पर प्रकाश डाला। इसके बाद माननीय प्रधानमंत्री द्वारा कर्तव्य पथ का उद्घाटन किया गया। 'कर्तव्य पथ' ऐतिहासिक राजपथ और सेंट्रल विस्टा लॉन का नया नाम है जिसमें नेताजी की मूर्ति से राष्ट्रपति भवन तक सड़क और क्षेत्र का विस्तार शामिल है।

परियोजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य परिदृश्य का नवीनीकरण, सुदृढ़ीकरण और पुनर्स्थापन करना है। कर्तव्य पथ को पैदल यात्रियों के लिए अधिक अनुकूल और यातायात के लिए आसान बना दिया गया है। पैदल यात्रियों की सुरक्षा को ध्यान में रखते हुए 8 मीटर चौड़े कुल चार पैदल यात्री अंडरपास - जनपथ और सी-हेक्सागोन जंक्शनों पर दो-दो - उपलब्ध कराए गए हैं। आठ भूमिगत सार्वजनिक सुविधा ब्लॉक और छह वेंडिंग प्लाजा को मौजूदा पेड़ों को ध्यान में रखते हुए, नागरिक उपयोगकर्ताओं और पर्यटकों के लिए आरामदायक बनाने के लिए सोच-समझकर स्थित और डिजाइन किया गया है। कार्तव्य पथ के किनारों पर फुटपाथ, जो पहले बजरी/मुर्रम का हुआ करता था, उसकी जगह ग्रेनाइट वॉकवे ने ले ली है। नहर से परे पहले दुर्गम क्षेत्रों को पैदल मार्गों और सोलह स्थायी पुलों की शुरूआत के माध्यम से सक्रिय किया गया है। किये गये कार्यों के संक्षिप्त आँकड़े इस प्रकार हैं:

Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi unveiled the 28 feet high statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, made from monolithic black granite. Ahead of the inauguration of the Kartavya Path, Hon’ble PM interacted with the shramjeevis involved in its construction, highlighting their efforts and contribution to the nation. It was followed by the inauguration of the Kartavya Path by Hon’ble PM. ‘Kartavya Path’ is the new name of the historic Rajpath & Central Vista Lawns which includes the stretch of road and area from the Netaji statue to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The main objective of the project is to refurbish, strengthen and restore the landscape. The Kartavya Path has been made more pedestrian friendly and easier for the traffic to negotiate through. A total of four pedestrian underpasses 8 m wide – two each at Janpath and C-Hexagon junctions – have been provided keeping pedestrian safety in mind. Eight underground public amenity blocks and six vending plazas have been thoughtfully located and designed, keeping existing trees in mind, to make it comfortable for civic users and tourists. The footpath on edges of Kartavya Path, which used to be of Bajri / Murram earlier, have been replaced by granite walkways. The previously inaccessible areas beyond canal have been activated through the introduction of walkways and sixteen permanent bridges. Brief statistics of the work done are as below:

The Kartavya Path lawns have been refurbished with the selection no.1/ Nilgiri species of grass depending upon whether it is sunny or shadow area. Most of the original Jamun trees have been retained and more trees have been added through a planned strategy of plantation (grass lawns redeveloped: 90 acres).
Historic chain links and 79 light poles along the Kartavya Path have been Preserved and restored and 58 new poles have been added (total number of light poles: 940).
Painted concrete bollards have been replaced with sandstone bollards to achievecoherence with the architectural character of the Avenue (total bollards: 1875). .
Canals have been refurbished to stop seepage and 60 aerators and 28 filtration tanks have been added to ensure that the canals have clean water
Parking has been designed to accommodate up to 580 cars and 35 buses (in Phase-I)
